Walter Tuchowski, January 2015.

  • This documentary focuses on a man named Walter Tuchowski, born February 20th, 1929, and the struggles of his family coming from Poland to America. His maternal grandparents moved to Crystal Falls, MI in the 1900s. His father left Poland, around WWI, to start a better life. His mother, Mary,  and father, Gregory, married and worked  their dairy farm that supplied the local area with cream, milk, and other dairy products. The family had over 25 dairy cows. They had ten children, of which 8 survived. Their family endured the depression and WWII. Walter's two brothers John and Chester served in WWII in the Marine Corps and Air Force. They made something of their family in Crystal Falls, MI. While some of his siblings went to Chicago to find work; Walter tried for a year to work in Chicago and came back to the farm. He has family in both Crystal Falls and Chicago, to this day.

I had to get up at 5AM and milk the cows before school... in rain, heat, snow, and whatever else. I didn’t complain, it was life, we worked hard.
